interfacing FlightGear with several IGs) - this could cover your current setup, FlightGear configuration settings, XML files - as well as screenshots/youtube videos illustrating the underlying concepts. PS: There also is a dedicated INTERFACING sub-forum (moving your thread there)ĭocument your project in terms of gathering enough information that would help people wanting to do similar things (e.g. specifically with your requirements in mind - in the meantime, it is a good idea to browse the interfacing sub-forum. a separate article/tutorial for our newsletter, including screen shots/youtube videos), I will provide more specific advice, i.e. Now, my offer is this: if you'd be willing to document your project on the FlightGear wiki (e.g. Like you say, HLA or CIGI would be more appropriate - and I would suggest to search the wiki for these terms (the bold terms are useful search terms for the wiki). In addition, you could use a middleware on top of the multiplayer protocol.
Yes, that's possible using a number of methods, including master/slave setups ( slaving) using multiple fgfs instances ( $FG_ROOT/Docs/README.IO).Īs you will see, there also is an external/ null fdm mode supported, and you can configure custom views, as well as disable certain elements by using so called draw masks Is there already a way to use multiple machines/screens for the view OTW?
Currently we use CIGI (wow I could hear the future groans as you read that! LOL) and actually use it to communicate to our image generators, with very little hacks or custom cigi packet information. Or better yet if this is a thing Flightgear already does and I just need to use the API and interface.

I was thinking I will look at the HLA code or scripting to try and figure out how to add other targets, but I did not know if there is a better way to use the website, documentation, or forums to get there faster. I don't think I am searching with the correct terms. Searching around the site has not shown me anything about adding other aircraft to the simulation. Lastly, I have 10 machines with 10 screens for the OTW. Also I would like to take the position from our aircraft and use that to generate the "out the window" (OTW) view for our craft. There is already a simulation running which has aircraft flying, I just need to input our aircraft into Flightgear's visual.

I would love to use the flightgear scene generator for a cockpit simulator.
